DJI released the DJI Mic Mini 2S wireless microphone in Japan on August 4, 2026. It keeps almost the same body as the DJI Mic Mini 2 introduced in April, while adopting features from the higher-end DJI Mic 3: 32-bit float internal recording, support for four transmitters per receiver, and two-stage AI noise cancellation. The 2TX + 1RX + charging case kit sells for 27,720 yen.

Same Small Body, Higher-End Internals

The Mic Mini 2S was teased on DJI's Japanese site on July 29. After launching in China, it is now available in Japan as well.

It sits above the Mic Mini 2 in the lineup. Size and weight are essentially unchanged from the Mic Mini 2, and the transmitter still attaches to clothing either with a clip or magnetically. The packaging options — one receiver paired with one or two transmitters — carry over too.

In other words, the exterior stays put while the internals move upmarket. For anyone shopping for a compact wireless mic, physical size is usually the part they refuse to compromise on, which makes this a straightforward trade.

Internal Recording and Four-Way Connection Are the Headline Changes

The transmitter can now record audio on its own, something the Mic Mini 2 could not do. The recording format matches the Mic 3, with 32-bit float support.

A 32-bit float file makes it far easier to rescue clipped audio in post when the input level was set badly during the shoot. Solo shooters rarely have a spare hand for gain adjustment, so this works as insurance. It also means audio survives on the transmitter even if the wireless link to the receiver drops.

Connection capacity changed as well. A single receiver now accepts four transmitters, up from two on the Mic Mini 2 and matching the Mic 3. For roundtable discussions or multi-person interviews handled by one receiver, that difference translates directly into how much gear is needed.

Two-stage AI noise cancellation, absent on the Mic Mini 2, has also been added. Three voice tone presets — Regular, Bright and Lit — are inherited from the Mic 3. The receiver gained a vibration motor, so actions such as establishing a connection can be confirmed by feel.

Where It Still Falls Short of the Mic 3

That said, this is not a full replacement for the Mic 3. The gaps sit mainly in the recording department.

Internal storage is 14.5GB against the Mic 3's 32GB, and internal recording runs up to 28 hours in 24-bit mode. The Mic 3 manages 57.3 hours under the same conditions, roughly double the headroom. The Mic Mini 2S also cannot use timecode, which the Mic 3 supports.

On productions that sync footage from several cameras afterwards, timecode availability feeds straight into editing time. Those workflows still point to the Mic 3, while the Mic Mini 2S makes sense when portability and price come first.

DJI OsmoAudio remains supported, letting the transmitter connect directly to cameras such as the Osmo Pocket and Osmo Action without a receiver. Anyone already using DJI cameras can leave the receiver at home more often.

Pricing and Accessories

Japanese pricing is as follows, all including tax.

Cosmetic accessories are available too. The colored windscreens that arrived alongside the Mic Mini 2 fit this model, and a set of translucent front covers has been prepared specifically for the Mic Mini 2S. The multicolor magnetic front cover set costs 3,300 yen.

The Time Series magnetic front covers, a collaboration with illustrator Victo Ngai, now include a Mic Mini 2S version at 6,930 yen. A microphone clipped to the chest is more visible than people expect, so color choice carries practical weight.
