Meta announced Meta One on September 15 local time, a subscription that spans Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI. Nine plans are on offer, from a small single-app tier to a business plan above 52,000 yen a month. The rollout has begun globally, including Japan, with pricing that starts at 239 yen a month and more than 50 features available.

What Stays Free and What Moves Behind a Paywall

The first thing worth noting is that the features people already use for free, along with basic AI functions, remain free. Meta One covers what sits on top of that layer: advanced, specialized features and expanded usage quotas for Meta AI.

The framing is clearly aimed at replacing third-party tools. Plenty of users have been paying separately for post scheduling, analytics or cloud storage, and Meta One pulls those jobs back inside the apps. Because it runs with native access to each user's content and context, Meta argues the premise differs from tools that connect from the outside.

Consumer Plans Start at 319 Yen

The single-app tiers are the three Meta already introduced earlier this year, now folded into the Meta One lineup. Instagram Plus costs 319 yen a month, Facebook Plus 319 yen, and WhatsApp Plus 239 yen.

Instagram Plus adds custom fonts for DMs and Stories, notifications when specific users view a Story, and DM previews, all fairly granular additions around expression and tracking. Facebook Plus centers on Messenger customization, richer Reels insights, and super hearts for Reels and feed posts. WhatsApp Plus brings exclusive themes and icons, stickers with special effects, and a higher limit on pinned chats.

For anyone who wants all three, the Meta One Core bundle runs 949 yen a month. On top of the three single-app tiers, it expands voice effects and creative tool allowances and raises the number of images and videos that can be generated with Meta AI. Restyle for Instagram Stories is included as well, though it is not yet available in Japan. Above that sits Meta One Premium at 2,900 yen a month for users who need more production volume.

Business Tiers Run From 2,000 Yen to Over 52,000 Yen

There are four levels for businesses and creators. The entry point, Meta One Essential, starts at 2,000 yen a month and includes a verification badge, a verified channel in the WhatsApp Business app, and impersonation protection, along with a larger allowance for Meta Business Agent, the AI agent that handles customer inquiries on WhatsApp around the clock.

Meta One Advanced, starting at 5,200 yen a month, targets the work an operations team actually does by hand. It covers Story scheduling up to 30 days ahead, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, and detailed audience insights. Team members can be granted access without sharing passwords, and the number of linked WhatsApp devices and broadcast credits increases as well.

Above those are Meta One Expert from 15,800 yen a month and Meta One Max from 52,000 yen a month. Both assume larger teams and operators, allocating more advanced features and greater Meta Business Agent throughput.

Three Things to Check Before Subscribing

Three conditions deserve a look before signing up.

The first is advertising. Subscribing to Meta One does not remove ads. Anyone expecting the ad-free experience that other paid services offer will find the terms different from what they assumed.

The second is distribution. Meta states plainly that subscribing does not by itself grant algorithmic priority or a ranking boost. The company does suggest that making good use of insights and AI features can widen reach as a result, but that is a downstream effect rather than a purchased one.

The third is the contract itself. Subscriptions are limited to adults 18 and over, and every plan is billed monthly. There is no annual option.

Meta Verified, the existing subscription built around identity verification and account protection, will also be folded gradually into Meta One, which carries AI agents and advanced insights. Current Meta Verified subscribers will want to watch for migration notices.

Summary

Meta One gathers everything from a 319 yen single-app tier to a 52,000 yen business plan into one structure, moving Meta AI quotas and work-oriented features onto the paid side. Ads remain and distribution is unchanged, so the decision comes down to whether individuals value the expression features and AI generation quota, and whether businesses value scheduling, analytics and automated AI responses. With the Meta Verified migration ahead, existing subscribers have reason to follow how this develops.
