Logitech announced MX Keypad, an AI controller aimed at developers, on September 8, 2026, and began selling it in select markets the same day. The device puts 9 full-color LCD keys under your fingers, each one freely relabeled, so commands for GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA can be mapped to physical keys. It costs 99.99 USD, or roughly 15,500 yen.
9 LCD keys that rewrite themselves around the app in front of you
The unit carries 9 color LCD keys plus a page-switch button. Because the artwork on each key is drawn by software, what a key will do stays visible right under your finger. Up to 15 pages are available, which by simple arithmetic puts more than 100 actions inside a single device.
The interesting part is how profiles behave. MX Keypad recognizes major applications on its own, and when the frontmost program changes, the key assignments change with it. Refactoring commands while you are in VS Code, agent execution once you move to a terminal: the same 9 keys become a different tool depending on context. Saved prompts, scripts, macros, app launches and document management are all fair game as assignments.
The more AI coding tools pile up, the more shortcuts there are to memorize and boilerplate to retype. Anatoliy Polyanker, VP and GM at Logitech, said in the announcement that coding mastery now depends on how easily developers can juggle an ever-growing range of AI tools. MX Keypad handles that juggling on the desk rather than on screen.
Co-developed with GitHub, bundled with 3 months of Copilot Pro+
MX Keypad was built in close collaboration with GitHub, part of Microsoft. It ships with native integration for VS Code and the GitHub Copilot app, and Logitech says support for more tools will follow. The design draws on feedback from the GitHub community and from Logitech's own MX Collective.
Every unit includes 3 free months of GitHub Copilot Pro+, redeemable through Logitech's configuration software Logi Options+. Both new and existing users qualify.
Martin Woodward, VP of Developer Relations at GitHub, commented that great developer tools get out of your way, and that MX Keypad makes working with Copilot feel like a natural part of the workflow. A peripherals maker and a code hosting platform partnering at the product design stage is an arrangement we have not seen much of before.
An open SDK, and community plugins for Claude Code and Codex
The other pillar is the Logi Actions SDK. Its documentation is written to be readable by AI, so handing the SDK to a coding agent is enough to have a custom integration written on the spot. Logitech frames it as an afternoon project.
That is already happening. Community-built plugins for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex have been published to the Logi Marketplace, covering real-time agent status tracking on the LCD keys and CLI control. Logitech says extensions built with the Logi Actions SDK reach more than 100 million compatible devices. Seen that way, this is less about one product than about opening the input layer across Logitech's installed base to AI agents.
On the environmental side, the body uses certified post-consumer recycled plastic, 64 percent for Graphite and 49 percent for Pale Grey. Packaging uses paper from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources.

99.99 EUR works out to about 18,400 yen. Sales run through Logitech.com, and availability is described as select markets. Logitech products are sold in Japan under the Logicool brand, but the announcement says nothing about a Japanese release.
