GMKtec has started selling the EVO-X1 Pro, a mini PC built around AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 470. The 12-core, 24-thread processor is paired with a dedicated NPU for a claimed system-wide AI throughput of up to 86 TOPS. Memory is fixed at 64GB, and an OCuLink port on the front lets you attach a desktop-class GPU. Pricing starts at 251,999 yen including tax for the configuration with 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.

12 Cores, 24 Threads and a 55 TOPS NPU

The centerpiece is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, a 12-core, 24-thread chip that boosts to 5.2GHz and carries Radeon 890M integrated graphics. The GPU side has 16 compute units and a graphics frequency of up to 3.1GHz.

AI work is handled by a dedicated XDNA 2 generation NPU rated at up to 55 TOPS on its own. Combined with the CPU and GPU, total system AI performance reaches up to 86 TOPS. Those numbers fall short of the larger AI-focused mini PCs, but they are enough for the kind of image generation and speech recognition tasks people want to keep on their own hardware.

GMKtec Claw ships preinstalled, so local AI models and AI agents can be tried out of the box. There is a performance mode that runs up to 65W, and cooling comes from a dual-fan setup that combines a dedicated CPU cooler with a system fan. How well a chassis this small holds up under sustained load is something to watch for in hands-on reviews.

External GPUs via OCuLink and USB4

Expansion hinges on the OCuLink port (PCIe 4.0 x4), which connects directly to a desktop graphics card. That helps with gaming, but also with video editing and running large language models locally. Hot swapping is not supported, so GMKtec advises connecting and disconnecting only with the system powered off. External GPUs can also be attached over USB4, giving two paths depending on the hardware you already own.

Display output covers HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and USB4, supporting up to three simultaneous displays at resolutions as high as 8K. USB4 also accepts up to 100W of power input.

Wired networking consists of two 2.5GbE ports, and wireless covers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. There are four USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports rated at 10Gbps plus a 3.5mm audio jack, and the operating system is Windows 11 Pro. With two 2.5GbE ports on board, there is room to build virtualization or NAS setups around it.

Soldered Memory, Storage Up to 16TB

Memory deserves attention. The 64GB of LPDDR5-6400 is soldered to the board, so it cannot be swapped or increased later. Onboard memory has become common in recent mini PCs as makers prioritize speed and slimmer designs, and the EVO-X1 Pro follows that pattern. Buyers need to decide up front whether 64GB will be enough.

Storage is more generous. Two M.2 2280 slots running PCIe 4.0 x4 accept a pair of 8TB SSDs for a total of 16TB. Factory configurations come with either 1TB or 2TB.

Pricing Starts at 251,999 Yen

Including tax, the 64GB plus 1TB SSD model is 251,999 yen and the 64GB plus 2TB SSD model is 278,999 yen. The coupon code A8X1PRO takes 5,000 yen off.

On GMKtec's US store, the 1TB configuration carries a list price of 2,299.99 USD (about 360,000 yen), with 1,599.99 USD (about 250,000 yen) shown as the selling price. A separate 20 USD coupon code is also available, so launch-period discounts are sizable.

※1 USD = 156 JPY (as of August 3, 2026)

For reference, the previous EVO-X1, which uses the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, sells from 155,999 yen on GMKtec's Japanese store. Given the CPU generation, the memory capacity and the NPU gap, the EVO-X1 Pro clearly sits toward the top of the EVO lineup.

Summary

The EVO-X1 Pro combines a 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 with an XDNA 2 generation NPU for a claimed system total of up to 86 TOPS. Its 64GB of LPDDR5 is soldered and cannot be expanded, but two M.2 slots stretch storage to 16TB, and both OCuLink and USB4 can host an external GPU. Triple 8K output, two 2.5GbE ports and Wi-Fi 7 round out the specification, with pricing from 251,999 yen including tax. It suits anyone who wants to run AI models locally and bolt on GPU power only when the workload demands it.
