Premium Claude for Free, Supporting the Whole of Lesson Prep

At the core is a connection to Learning Commons, a database of academic standards. Because Claude can reference not only the standards across all 50 states but also the smaller learning components beneath each standard and the order students typically learn them, asking it to draft a lesson plan returns a proposal that is scaffolded and aligned to standards[1]. Trusted curricular resources such as OpenSciEd and Illustrative Mathematics' IM v.360 are also included.
Anthropic emphasizes two tasks in particular. One is building lessons from high-quality instructional materials. The other is differentiation—adapting materials to each student's readiness level—where Claude prepares a differentiation plan along with student-facing materials for each proficiency level. Students who are not yet ready get scaffolds that aid understanding, while those who are ready get more challenging work.
Integrations Across K-12 Tools, Turning Materials Classroom-Ready
Claude for Teachers connects to a range of tools used in schools. Representative examples include ASSISTments, which generates auto-scored, standards-aligned math problems; Brisk Teaching, which turns ideas into classroom materials in seconds; and Canva Education, which shapes materials into classroom-ready designs[1]. There is broader support as well, including MagicSchool for making content classroom-ready, Eedi for creating diagnostic questions that reveal student thinking in both English and Spanish, and TeachFX for feedback grounded in real classroom talk.
Claude for Teachers also includes Anthropic's coding tool Claude Code and its AI work environment Cowork, expanding the situations where Claude can carry work forward on its own. Hand it a folder of a roster, diagnostics, attendance, and a teacher's own notes, and Claude builds a clear picture of where each student stands to help tailor instruction. Teachers control what data is shared, and nothing shared is used for model training. Repeated tasks can be handed off too—reviewing each day's exit tickets to see what students mastered and adapting the next day's plan, for example, can run automatically at 4 p.m. every school day.
Protecting Student Data, and Spreading Into Classrooms
Claude for Teachers is for educators only, consistent with Claude's 18-and-over policy. It comes with its own terms built around K-12 privacy, and data on the service is not used for model training. Student information is protected under a data processing addendum written to comply with FERPA (the US Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), and there are defined standards for deleting conversations that contain student data[1][2].
Anthropic is also working with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) to advance industry standards for safety and privacy in K-12 education. AFT President Randi Weingarten expressed hope that a tool designed by and for educators can help give them more time for the human relationships at the heart of learning[1]. Alongside this, an AI fluency course for teachers co-created with Teach for America and a train-the-trainer module made with the AFT were also released.
To study the program's impact, Anthropic plans to run a pilot in the Detroit Public Schools Community District, examining effects on teachers' workload and instructional practice together with educators[1]. The effort is also positioned within its partnership with the Gates Foundation to improve K-12 learning outcomes. Verified educators can use it for free, and signing up by June 30, 2027 grants a full year of access.
