CMF, the sub-brand of Nothing, has confirmed that its new wireless earphones, the CMF Clip Pro, will be unveiled on August 4, 2026. They use a clip-on design that leaves the ear canal open, a form factor CMF has never built before. The teaser video shows part of the housing in orange and white, but pricing and specifications remain under wraps.
The run-up began on July 28. What the official CMF account posted on X was not a product shot but an illustration of the Pokémon Igglybuff, the same approach Nothing has used for its own product teasers. On its own, it gave nothing away. Then co-founder Akis Evangelidis quoted the post and noted that this would be a new product category, which ruled out a successor to any existing line.
A second teaser followed, pairing the line "Built for what's coming" with a tight crop of the product. The surface shown is covered in small perforations, and observers quickly read it as the mesh of an earbud. On July 31, CMF posted a short video that named the product Clip Pro and set the reveal for August 4.
Two colors appear in the footage: orange and white. Orange has been CMF's signature since the first Buds, and it is once again the face of the brand here.
Certification Databases Found Model Number B189 First
The Clip Pro surfaced in regulatory filings well before the official teasers. Singapore's IMDA listed model number B189 alongside the name CMF Clip Pro, classified as Wireless Bluetooth Earphones.
The same B189 later turned up at the UAE's TDRA with type approval number ER62097/26. Registered next to it was a separate model, the CMF Buds Neo. Whether August 4 brings only the Clip Pro or the Buds Neo as well is still unclear.
India's BIS certification, meanwhile, has yet to show the device. Given that CMF treats India as a core market, that absence stands out, and Indian availability may not line up with the global launch.
CMF Finally Enters the OWS Category
The Clip Pro belongs to the class of earbuds that clip onto the rim of the ear. Because they do not seal the ear canal the way in-ear models do, they let you hear your surroundings while music plays. The category, known as open-ear or OWS (open wearable stereo), has expanded rapidly over the past few years.
Nothing already sells an open design under its main brand, the Ear (Open), but that model hooks over the ear rather than clamping onto it. The Clip Pro therefore marks a new mounting style for the group as a whole.
The field is already crowded. Huawei ships the FreeClip 2 S, Motorola has the Moto Buds Loop, and Soundpeats offers the Clip 1. In Japan, Panasonic released the ear-cuff style RB-C10, and Samsung is reported to be preparing the Galaxy Buds Able. CMF, a brand built on aggressive pricing, is walking into a busy room.
CMF launched in 2023 as Nothing's value line and was later reorganized as an independent subsidiary based in India. The name comes from the industrial design term Color, Material and Finish, reflecting a consistent focus on eye-catching texture at low cost. Its audio range alone now spans the Buds series, the Headphone Pro and the Neckband Pro, and the Clip Pro is a natural extension of that lineup.
More Unknowns Than Knowns
The hinge structure that will determine fit, the driver size, battery life, codec support, pricing: none of it has been disclosed. Clip-on designs tend to leak bass because the canal stays open, and keeping them stable on the ear is a hard engineering problem. How far CMF has pushed within its usual price band is a question that only the launch will answer.
That launch is August 4. CMF has consistently kept the gap between teaser and reveal short, and this time is no different, so the details are days away.
Summary
The CMF Clip Pro is the first clip-on wireless earbud from Nothing's CMF sub-brand. An August 4 reveal has been officially teased, with orange and white visible in the footage. The device has already cleared Singapore's IMDA and the UAE's TDRA as model B189, and the UAE filing also covered the CMF Buds Neo. Specifications and pricing stay sealed until launch day, and the price point will decide how CMF lands in an increasingly crowded clip-on market.
