Smart home maker Aqara has unveiled a five-product lighting series at IFA 2026 in Berlin. The lineup covers a floor lamp, a downlight, a light strip, outdoor string lights, and a permanent outdoor fixture. Every product supports both Thread and Zigbee, and works through Matter with the major smart home platforms. Pricing and launch timing have not been announced.
Matter Support Across the Entire Lineup
The first thing worth noting is that all five products are Matter-enabled without exception, and each one carries both Thread and Zigbee radios. Aqara lists Apple Home, Home Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Homey as compatible platforms, so the series is not tied to any single ecosystem.
Lighting is not the kind of hardware you swap out casually. Downlights and permanent outdoor fixtures in particular involve installation work, which means you are committing to the same product for years. Explicit standards support is less a line on a spec sheet than an insurance policy covering that entire stretch of time.
Aqara also expects these lights to be paired with its existing sensors, switches, and hubs. The lights can react to occupancy, daily routines, and triggers from automations you already run, which reduces the need to touch a switch at all.
The Floor Lamp T1 Lights the Wall, Not the Room
The Floor Lamp T1 is a 1,420 mm rod-shaped floor lamp. Its defining trait is a side-emitting design: rather than throwing light forward, it washes the nearby wall as a broad surface. The idea is to turn the color of the wall itself into the mood of the room, whether you are watching a film, gaming, or just sitting in the evening.
A high-precision 16-bit, 5-channel chip drives 18 individually controllable zones. The white range spans 2,000K to 9,000K, with a maximum output of 1,000 lumens. Combined with Aqara sensors and switches, it can dim itself gradually as the evening progresses.
The Downlight and Strip Are Designed Backward From Installation Constraints
The LED Downlight T2 uses an ultra-thin profile aimed at homes where there is little depth above the ceiling. It comes in an RGB CCT version with 16 million colors and a CCT-only version that reaches up to 1,200 lumens. Power-off memory returns the light to its previous state after an outage, a practical touch for a fixture buried in a ceiling.
The LED Strip T2 is trimmable and packs 108 LEDs per meter. It offers 18 individually controllable zones every 3 meters, producing smooth gradients without the visible hot spots that cheaper strips suffer from. Music-synced effects are included, and the Aqara Home app lets you describe the mood you want in plain language and have a scene built automatically.
Outdoors, the Target Is the Seasonal Install-and-Remove Chore
The Outdoor String Lights H1 are weatherproof lights for patios and decks. They also support zone-by-zone control, with the same 2,000K to 9,000K white range as the indoor products. Brightness and color can change automatically based on time of day, surrounding conditions, or triggers from other Aqara devices, so the lights can mark a path after dark or respond to a security event rather than serving purely as decoration.
The Permanent Outdoor Lights H1 are, as the name suggests, meant to stay up. The goal is to eliminate the annual routine of hauling out a ladder in December and taking everything down again in January. Once installed, one-tap presets handle the change of occasion. The LEDs are individually controlled, and the run can be extended or cut to match any roofline.
Alongside the hardware, Aqara showed Aqara Builder, a content-sharing platform aimed at smart home enthusiasts, developers, installers, integrators, and creators. It gathers real-world projects, automation approaches, and design ideas in one place, with an AI agent offering suggestions.
Satisfaction with a smart home depends heavily on what you do after the hardware arrives. An official venue for sharing working configurations addresses a real weakness of the category, which is how hard it is to picture the finished result before you buy.
