HUAWEI will hold a global launch event in Munich, Germany on September 2. The teaser carries the theme "Chase the Wild," hinting that outdoor-oriented products will take the stage. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 series, announced first in China in early August, looks like the most likely headliner for international markets.

An outdoor theme, timed just ahead of the autumn trade show season

HUAWEI holds a wearables event in Europe every year, and this date follows that pattern. Early September in Germany also sits right before the region's largest consumer electronics show, so European press attention tends to concentrate around that window.

For now HUAWEI has confirmed only the date and the theme. No product names have been named. Put "Chase the Wild" next to the lineup the company has already moved on in China, however, and a sports-focused watch is the natural reading.

Two models in China, split by materials and ECG

The series is divided into the higher-end GT 7 Pro and the standard GT 7. In China the GT 7 Pro starts at 2,688 CNY (about 64,000 yen), while the GT 7 costs 1,588 CNY (about 38,000 yen) for the 41mm version and 1,688 CNY (about 40,000 yen) for the 46mm version.

※1 CNY = 23.7 JPY (as of August 18, 2026)

What separates them is mainly build material and a few measurement features. The GT 7 Pro uses an aerospace-grade titanium alloy body with a nano-microcrystalline ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal over the display. ECG analysis and a depth gauge for diving also belong to the Pro. The standard GT 7 uses a stainless steel front and drops ECG and diving support.

Both models use a round AMOLED panel with peak brightness of 3,000 nits. For a sports watch, keeping the display readable when you raise your wrist in midsummer sun matters more than the spec sheet suggests.

Sport modes built for ski slopes, climbs and golf courses

The clearest emphasis this generation is on discipline-specific tuning.

Skiing gains a new indoor slope mode. Outdoors, the watch logs turn count and frequency and quantifies the centrifugal load through each turn as a G-Force figure. Ski resort maps that can be downloaded to the watch in advance cover more than 3,000 locations across 59 countries, showing run names, difficulty grades and lift stations on the wrist.

For cycling, riders can import a route in advance and see climb segment distance and average gradient against the elevation profile, with an alert before sharp corners above a certain speed. Golf brings maps for more than 17,000 courses worldwide, with the green view rotating automatically to match where the player stands. Counting trail running and freediving to 40 meters, the watch supports more than 110 sport modes.

Some features, including detailed outdoor ski metrics and the resort maps, arrive through software updates after purchase.

21 days of battery, plus additions on the health side

On the GT 7 Pro, HUAWEI's lab figures are 21 days of light use, 12 days of typical use, and 7 days with the always-on display enabled. Running the trail running mode continuously still yields 51 hours. Among smartwatches that usually expect a charge every few days, that is a long stretch.

On health, TruSleep 5.0 now presents sleep quality along two axes, sleep structure and sleep stability, and a new feature estimates 12 distinct emotional states. All-day heart rate variability tracking and a skin temperature sensor are included. In China, three health-related software components have received medical device registration from the regulator, but the watch itself is not a medical device and the readings are for reference only.

The series is also phone-agnostic, pairing with both iOS and Android handsets.

Will anything besides the watch appear?

HUAWEI also sells PC products in China, including the foldable MateBook Fold and the thin-and-light MateBook Pro S. Whether the Munich event stays wearables-only or expands into laptops and audio is still an open question.

There has been no announcement about availability in Japan either. The GT 6 series did reach the Japanese market, which makes the idea tempting, but that conversation starts after September 2.

Summary

HUAWEI's global launch event in Munich on September 2 carries the theme "Chase the Wild." The WATCH GT 7 series that debuted in China in August comes in two versions: a Pro from 2,688 CNY with titanium, ceramic and ECG, and a standard model in stainless steel from 1,588 CNY. A 3,000-nit display, up to 21 days of battery and sport modes built around skiing, cycling and golf are all in place, and the question for the day is whether that same package travels worldwide.
