Ahead of Google's hardware event on August 12, images and specifications for the next Pixel Watch 5 have been surfacing one after another. The exterior barely changes from the previous generation, and four colors are shown. The silicon stays the same as well, with only the memory reportedly moving up to 3GB. It looks like a quiet generational update, but the reason appears to sit with on-device Gemini.

Four colors, in images that look like official press material

The leaked images were posted by the leak account evleaks, and they are not blurry shots of a prototype. They look close to finished press material, which leaves almost nothing about the exterior to the imagination. The four finishes shown are Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite and Warm Gold. Warm Gold is paired with a lighter band, while the other three use straps that match the case.

The design itself has hardly moved from the Pixel Watch 4. The round domed display, the rotating crown on the side, the side charging contacts and Google's proprietary band attachment system are all carried over, to the point where telling the two apart is difficult. A separate leak suggests Warm Gold will be limited to the smaller 41mm model.

A wrist device leaves little room for shape experiments, and there is not much reason to redraw a finished design every year. Still, with so little to say about the outside, the internals become the main story this time.

The SW5100 stays, and only the memory grows to 3GB

A Google Play Console listing shows the Pixel Watch 5 running on Qualcomm's SW5100 platform, with four Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz and an Adreno 702 GPU. That is effectively identical to the Pixel Watch 4, and tracing further back, it is the same lineup that has been in place since the Pixel Watch 2. Google would be reusing the same foundation for a fourth generation.

That does not mean nothing was touched. The Pixel Watch 4 kept the same CPU and GPU pairing while moving to Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 to support features such as satellite SOS. The Play Console listing says nothing about the co-processor, so improvements that are not visible here remain possible.

The clear change is memory. The same listing points to 3GB, the first increase from the 2GB used until now. Memory has stayed flat since Google's smartwatch line began, so this is not a small shift. The most likely use for the extra headroom is Gemini running on the device itself. Handling voice exchanges and summaries locally rather than sending them to the cloud gets tight at 2GB.

SAMSUNG's Galaxy Watch 9, the usual point of comparison, moved its processor to Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite (SDW6100) but kept 2GB of memory. Rather than competing head-on for raw performance, Google appears to have prioritized room to run AI. That is the choice the Pixel Watch 5 seems to reflect.

41mm and 45mm sizes, with roughly 50 USD added to the price

According to the leaks, the Pixel Watch 5 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes, each with Wi-Fi and LTE variants. That structure matches the previous generation.

On pricing, reports point to the 41mm Wi-Fi model starting at 399 USD (about 63,000 yen). That is roughly 50 USD (about 8,000 yen) more than the previous generation, and the increase is expected to apply across the lineup. Google has not published any pricing, so none of this is settled until the event.

※1 USD = 157 JPY (as of August 4, 2026)

On connectivity, FCC filings indicate support for Wi-Fi 6, NFC, UWB (ultra-wideband) and satellite-based emergency features. UWB feeds into uses such as digital car keys and directional finding for lost items, and its value on the wrist grows every year.

Summary

The Pixel Watch 5 looks set to carry over both its exterior and its silicon while raising memory to 3GB. There is nothing flashy about it, but it makes sense as groundwork for running Gemini on the device. Two sizes at 41mm and 45mm, four colors and a roughly 50 USD price increase are all claims that the August 12 event will settle.
