vivo has unveiled the X Fold6, a new book-style foldable smartphone, in China. It is the first X Fold model to use a MediaTek processor, and it pairs the largest battery ever fitted to a vivo foldable with the brand's first 200-megapixel camera. Slimmer hardware and tougher protection round out a device packed with brand firsts.

A Run of Brand Firsts

The most striking thing about the X Fold6 is how many milestones vivo has packed into a single generation. Earlier X Fold models relied on Snapdragon silicon, but this one debuts MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. vivo says the chip was developed over more than 2 years specifically for foldables, making the X Fold6 the world's first foldable phone to run it.

The power story is just as notable. The 7,000mAh "Blue Ocean" battery uses third-generation solid-state battery technology and is the largest vivo has ever placed in a foldable. It supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging. The chipset is joined by vivo's own V3+ imaging chip, LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage. The software is OriginOS 6 Fold, based on Android 16.

A Big Screen Built to Last

The inner main display is an 8.02-inch AMOLED panel with a 2504 x 2312 resolution and an LTPO refresh rate that scales from 1Hz to 120Hz. It uses SAMSUNG's M14 luminous material, reaches up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, and adds 1,920Hz PWM dimming and UTG (ultra-thin glass) protection.

The 6.51-inch cover display carries a 2528 x 1120 resolution and the same 1Hz to 120Hz LTPO behavior. It uses a BOE Q11 panel, peaks at 5,000 nits, and is shielded by second-generation Armour Glass. Both the inner and cover screens house 20-megapixel selfie cameras, so users are covered whether the phone is open or closed.

The phone is also thin and light for a foldable. Depending on the finish, it measures 4.4mm to 4.8mm unfolded, 9.4mm to 9.9mm folded, and weighs between 228g and 235g. It carries IP58 and IP59 ratings and includes Wi-Fi 7, USB 3.2 Gen 1, NFC, an IR blaster, an X-axis linear motor, stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

A Camera System Co-Developed with ZEISS

Imaging is a core focus for vivo, and the X Fold6 carries a triple rear camera. The star is a 200-megapixel SAMSUNG HPB sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). It is joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto built on a Sony LYTIA 602 sensor with VCS technology and OIS, aimed at distant subjects and low-light shots.

The system was co-developed with German optics brand ZEISS and works with the optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2 accessory. This is the first time vivo has brought a 200-megapixel camera to one of its foldables, a clear nod to buyers who want serious photography from a folding phone.

Price and Availability

The X Fold6 comes in several memory and storage tiers: 12GB+256GB at CNY 7,999 (about 190,000 yen), 12GB+512GB at CNY 8,999 (about 210,000 yen), 16GB+512GB at CNY 9,999 (about 240,000 yen), 16GB+1TB at CNY 10,999 (about 260,000 yen), and a top Black Gold Edition (16GB+1TB) at CNY 11,299 (about 270,000 yen). *1 CNY = about 23.8 JPY (as of June 2026)

The colors are Blue Cave, Salt Lake, Extreme Night and the Black Gold Edition. Pre-orders are already open in China, with sales set to begin on July 1. There is no word yet on a global release.
