SAMSUNG has revealed its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup. The headliner is the 27-inch Odyssey G6, which reaches a world-first 1,100Hz refresh rate in Dual Mode. It is joined by the 49-inch OLED G9, the 42-inch curved OLED G7 and the 32-inch OLED G8, each carrying its own world-first claim. The announcement was made at Gamescom 2026, held in Cologne, Germany from August 26 to 30.
1,100Hz on a 27-Inch Panel, With Dual Mode as the Premise
The Odyssey G6 (model G60H) is aimed squarely at genres such as FPS, where reaction speed decides the outcome. It uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1ms response time.
The 1,100Hz figure looks detached from reality on its own, but it is the ceiling reached through Dual Mode. Choosing HD resolution allows up to 1,100Hz, while QHD tops out at 600Hz, so the player decides whether to prioritize image detail or motion smoothness. This is not a monitor that runs at 1,100Hz all the time, and that distinction matters.
The model was shown once before at CES 2026, and the 1,100Hz figure is the finalized production specification refined from that earlier version. Of the four models, only the G6 has a stated release window: a global launch in the second half of 2026.
The 49-Inch and 32-Inch OLEDs Trade Resolution for Speed
The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) is a 49-inch model, and the first in the world to combine DQHD resolution (5,120 x 1,440) with a 360Hz refresh rate. Its panel is a fifth-generation QD-OLED with a five-layer Penta Tandem structure that SAMSUNG says is up to 1.3 times more efficient and lasts up to twice as long as the previous generation. The RGB Stripe subpixel layout is intended to reduce color fringing around text. Peak brightness reaches up to 1,300 nits on a 3 percent window at 4K resolution. Response time is 0.03ms GtG, and switching to Dual HD (2,560 x 720) raises the refresh rate to as much as 720Hz.
The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) adds one more step with Triple Mode: UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz and FHD at 680Hz, letting users rebalance resolution against speed depending on the game and the connected hardware. Its Glare Free treatment uses a film that is 54 percent less glossy than conventional anti-reflection film. Connectivity covers one DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, two HDMI ports, one USB-C port with 98W Power Delivery, a USB hub with two downstream ports and KVM support. VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certifications are all scheduled to be completed at product launch.
A 42-Inch 16:9 Curved OLED Opens a New Category
Of the four, the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ) has the clearest character. A 42-inch 16:9 OLED gaming monitor with 1000R curvature is described as a world first. Screen area is roughly 72 percent larger than the previous 32-inch model, resolution is 4K, the refresh rate is 165Hz and response time is 0.03ms GtG.
A 1000R curve pulls the edges of the display closer to the player's line of sight. That is the opposite direction from the competition-focused G6, and it suits titles players sink hours into, such as RPGs and open-world games. Glare Free technology is included here as well.
Wider Support for HDR10+ GAMING and Odyssey 3D
Beyond the hardware, SAMSUNG also outlined moves on the software side. The company is working with Activision Blizzard on HDR10+ GAMING, folding HDR tuning into the development process for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 so that compatible monitors reproduce the color and contrast the creators intended. SAMSUNG plans to expand the ecosystem to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.
Support for Odyssey 3D is also growing through direct collaboration with game studios, with Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn newly added.
Pricing and availability for the three models other than the G6 remain undecided and will be announced later by market. SAMSUNG has held the top position in the global gaming monitor market for seven consecutive years from 2019 through 2025 according to IDC data on a value basis, and this lineup extends that run.
Summary
The 2027 Odyssey range is built around mode switching that trades resolution for speed across four models. The 27-inch G6 delivers a world-first 1,100Hz in HD and 600Hz in QHD, arriving globally in the second half of 2026. The 49-inch OLED G9 and 32-inch OLED G8 use fifth-generation QD-OLED panels topping out at 360Hz, while the 42-inch curved OLED G7 competes on sheer screen area. The headline numbers draw the eye, but day-to-day usability will come down to how players juggle Dual Mode and Triple Mode.
