Red Magic has unveiled the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, an Android tablet built specifically for gaming, in China. It pairs a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED panel running at 185Hz with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a dedicated RedCore R4 co-processor, and even packs an active liquid-cooling loop inside. A transparent rear panel shows off the cooling hardware and RGB lighting for an unmistakably aggressive look, and pricing starts at 4,999 yuan (about 120,000 yen). It is aimed at players who want no-compromise performance in a device compact enough to hold in one hand.

A 9.06-inch 2.4K 185Hz OLED with 300Hz touch

The headline feature is the compact 9.06-inch OLED display. It offers a 2.4K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate, and uses Red Magic's own X10 panel material. Peak brightness reaches 1,100 nits in standard use and up to 1,600 nits for HDR content. The screen covers 100 percent of DCI-P3, has a 16:10 aspect ratio, and keeps its bezels down to 4.9mm.

Touch performance, which is critical during gameplay, is also strengthened. A Synaptics S3930 touch controller delivers a 300Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate, so that combined with the high refresh rate, the tablet can keep up with fast inputs without lag.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a co-processor and liquid cooling

At the core sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It is joined by a dedicated RedCore R4 chip that offloads tasks such as frame interpolation and touch adjustments, easing the load on the main processor.

For thermal control, Red Magic built in an active liquid-cooling system. A small internal pump circulates coolant through a vapor chamber, working alongside liquid metal thermal paste to move heat away. Fans or metal plates are the norm for cooling on phones and tablets, but this device uses a circulating-liquid design to help sustain performance under heavy load. The whole process is managed by the CUBE Gaming Engine 3.0, which optimizes resource allocation while also aiming to improve power efficiency.

Software that reaches into PC gaming

The tablet runs on Red Magic OS 11.5. A standout is the built-in PC emulator. It includes a direct Steam connection mode, letting you run PC games locally on the device while syncing your cloud saves. It is designed for taking part of your PC gaming library on the go.

AI-related features are also included. A tactical coach suggests in-game strategies, and a voice assistant powered by DeepSeek can generate spoken responses during multiplayer sessions.

An 8,300mAh battery and two USB-C ports

The tablet is powered by an 8,300mAh battery with 80W wired charging, and Red Magic bundles a 100W charger in the box, opening the door to faster charging with compatible gear. It also supports bypass charging, so when you plug in while playing, power is fed directly to the system rather than the battery, helping to limit heat and battery wear.

There are two USB-C ports. Both support 80W charging, and one is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port suited to faster data transfers and external monitor output. The tablet also features dual stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and wireless screen mirroring to a TV or monitor at up to 4K at 144Hz. Cameras consist of a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 9-megapixel front camera for video calls and facial recognition.

Pricing and availability

The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is already on sale in China. The 12GB + 256GB model is priced at 4,999 yuan (about 120,000 yen), the 16GB + 512GB model at 5,999 yuan (about 140,000 yen), and the top 16GB + 1TB configuration at 6,999 yuan (about 170,000 yen). It comes in two transparent finishes, Silver Wing and Dark Night.

Red Magic has confirmed a global rollout soon under the Red Magic Astra 2 branding. Availability and pricing for Japan have not been announced at this time.
