The official version of iOS 13.1 is now available, and you can install it via Software Update.

iOS 13.1 brings bug fixes and new features for iPhone 11. Starting with this update, the iPhone XR and XS series also seem to be covered by the performance management feature that prevents sudden shutdowns caused by battery degradation. The download size is around 500 MB. As usual, we recommend updating while connected to Wi-Fi.

AirDrop

On iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, the new U1 chip with Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology for spatial awareness lets you choose an AirDrop recipient by pointing your iPhone at theirs.

Shortcuts

  • Personalize your daily routine with suggested automations in the Gallery
  • Run shortcuts automatically using triggers in personal and home automations
  • Support for shortcuts as advanced actions in the Automation tab of the Home app

Maps

"Share ETA" has been added, letting you send your estimated time of arrival while navigating along a route.

Battery Health

  • Optimized Battery Charging slows the rate of battery aging by reducing the time your iPhone spends fully charged
  • Added performance management for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max to prevent unexpected shutdowns, with an option to disable the feature if an unexpected shutdown occurs
  • Added a notification in Battery Health on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and later when a new genuine Apple battery cannot be verified

Bug Fixes and Other Improvements

  • Added a link in the Me tab of Find My that lets a guest sign in to locate a lost device
  • Added a notification on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max when the iPhone's display cannot be verified as a new genuine Apple display
  • Fixed an issue in Mail where mail messages might not download in the background
  • Fixed an issue where the camera orientation could appear rotated when swiping from the Lock screen to switch to Camera
  • Resolved an issue where the corresponding wallpaper appearance might not change when switching between Light and Dark Mode
  • Fixed an issue where the device might not vibrate when connected to a charger
  • Fixed an issue where the edit menu might not appear when selecting text
