HONOR has quietly launched a new smartphone, the X70 Pro Max, in China. Its standout feature is a huge 8,560mAh battery that also supports 90W wired fast charging. On top of that, the 6.79-inch AMOLED display reaches a peak brightness of 6,000 nits, and the phone runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced edition while starting at CNY 1,999 (about 48,000 yen), keeping it firmly in affordable mid-range territory.
A Large 8,560mAh Battery and 90W Fast Charging
The defining trait of the X70 Pro Max is its 8,560mAh battery. Considering that most flagship phones sit around 5,000mAh, that capacity stands out. With this much headroom, the phone is unlikely to run dry over a day of gaming or video, making it easier to charge less often.
Charging is handled by 90W wired fast charging. Large batteries tend to take longer to fill, but supporting high-output charging eases that inconvenience. Pairing a big battery with fast charging neatly sums up the character of this device.
HONOR has also previewed a higher-end model, the X80 Pro Max, set for June 22, which is said to carry an even larger 11,000mAh battery. The X70 Pro Max arrives just ahead of that announcement.
A 6,000-nit AMOLED and a Rugged Body
The display is a 6.79-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 2640×1200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Refresh rate refers to how many times per second the screen redraws; a higher value makes scrolling and motion appear smoother.
What stands out is the peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. The screen stays readable even under direct sunlight, which helps visibility in bright settings. The bezels are a slim 1.3mm and uniform all the way around, lending the front a clean, seamless look.
Durability is another focus, with an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance. That level withstands high-temperature, high-pressure water jets, making it well suited to everyday exposure to moisture. The phone also includes dual speakers, an infrared remote function, and a fingerprint scanner.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 50MP Camera, and MagicOS 10.0
The chipset is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced edition, paired with an Adreno 810 GPU for graphics. It is a mid-range rather than flagship configuration, reflecting an aim to keep the price down while handling everyday tasks. The phone offers 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
For the cameras, a 50MP main sensor sits inside a circular module on the back, while the front selfie camera is 8MP. The setup covers the basics while keeping the configuration simple.
On the software side, the phone runs MagicOS 10.0, a custom interface based on Android 16. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2, with a USB Type-C port.
Pricing and Color Options
The X70 Pro Max sells for CNY 1,999 (about 48,000 yen) in the 8GB RAM / 256GB storage configuration, and CNY 2,399 (about 57,000 yen) in the 8GB / 512GB version. Despite the large battery and high-brightness display, it lands in the 50,000-yen range.
The phone comes in four colors: Bamboo Green, Phantom Purple, Phantom Night Black, and Sunburst Gold. For now, the details announced are for the Chinese market, and availability in other regions has not been disclosed.

Summary
The HONOR X70 Pro Max packs an 8,560mAh battery with 90W fast charging, a 6.79-inch AMOLED with 6,000-nit peak brightness, and IP69K dust and water resistance into an affordable mid-range phone starting at CNY 1,999 (about 48,000 yen). The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced edition does not chase peak performance, but for users who value battery life, screen visibility, and durability, it looks like an easy phone to live with. Together with the higher-end X80 Pro Max due on June 22, it offers a glimpse of HONOR's battery strategy.
