This is a phone that takes direct aim at the two things foldables have long been criticized for: battery life and durability. HONOR's book-style foldable flagship, the Magic V6, went on sale in Germany on July 1, 2026, followed by the UK, France, Spain, and Italy the next day. Already released in China back in March, it arrives loaded with a 6,660mAh battery, the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in a foldable, and a seven-year update pledge. Here are the points worth knowing.

A 6,660mAh battery you would not expect in a foldable

The Magic V6's biggest talking point is a 6,660mAh battery that stands well ahead of the book-style foldable field. The previous Magic V5 carried 5,820mAh, and the rival Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has 4,400mAh, so the Magic V6 pulls clearly in front on capacity. It uses a fifth-generation silicon-carbon cell with 25 percent silicon content and an energy density of 921Wh/L. HONOR says the phone cleared a 24-hour TUV Rheinland endurance test on its inner display.

Despite the larger capacity, the body does not pay for it in bulk. Unfolded, the phone is 4.0mm thick and weighs 219g in its lightest finish. It charges at 80W wired and 66W wireless, so the big battery refills quickly. Foldables have tended to compromise on battery life, and the Magic V6 is built to challenge that assumption.

The first foldable with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

At its core is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm), a first for a foldable. Rather than settling for less performance because it folds, the Magic V6 is positioned to trade blows with conventional flagships. It runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, with a redesigned translucent interface and tighter links to iPhone and Mac.

Both screens are LTPO2 panels, tuned so the experience feels the same open or closed. The inner display measures about 7.95 inches at up to 120Hz with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The 6.52-inch cover screen is also 120Hz, with a peak brightness of 6,000 nits. In Europe the phone comes in a single configuration: 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage.

A camera kit and, unusually for a foldable, serious water resistance

The rear camera is a triple setup: a roughly 50MP main (f/1.6) with OIS, a roughly 50MP ultra-wide, and a roughly 64MP periscope telephoto (3x optical, 1/2-inch sensor, CIPA 6.5-stop stabilization). There are also roughly 20MP selfie cameras on both the inner and outer screens. Instead of the apologetic cameras foldables used to carry, this is close to a proper flagship kit.

Durability is another highlight. The phone carries both IP68 and IP69 dust and water ratings, capable of withstanding high-pressure and high-temperature water jets; having both on a book-style foldable is rare. The display uses a scratch-resistant NanoCrystal shield, and the hinge is rated for 500,000 folds. On top of that, Magic-series phones sold in the EU and UK come with a promise of seven years of OS upgrades and security updates. It all points to a device meant to be kept for the long haul.

Price and availability

In Europe the recommended retail price is €2,299.99 (about 420,000 yen) in the eurozone and £1,999.99 (about 430,000 yen) in the UK. During the launch window, however, the actual price is far lower. HONOR is offering a €600 discount coupon that drops the eurozone price to €1,699.90 (about 310,000 yen). The coupon runs only through the end of July. In Germany, that introductory price also comes bundled with a HONOR Pad 10 tablet and 24 months of screen protection, and the UK and other regions have their own extras such as earbuds or a tablet.

Note that HONOR does not sell the phone officially in North America, so there is no US retail price. There is no announced release for Japan at this time either.
