POCO will hold the global launch of its next flagship line, the POCO F9 series, on September 1 at 20:00 GMT+8. The official teaser page has already confirmed part of the spec sheet, including an 8,050mAh battery on the higher-end POCO F9 Ultra. The tagline for the event is UltraPower Unbound, putting battery capacity and raw performance front and center.

Two models this generation

The official page lists only two devices: the POCO F9 Pro and the POCO F9 Ultra. There is no plain F9 in the announcement, so the generation starts with the two upper-tier models. The previous F8 Pro and F8 Ultra went global in November 2025, which makes this roughly a nine-month refresh cycle.

Internally, both phones are widely believed to be based on the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max sold in China. POCO has long rebranded Redmi flagships for global markets, so that lineage is the natural assumption here as well.

An 8,050mAh cell with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging

Battery capacity is the headline number among the confirmed specs. The POCO F9 Ultra carries an 8,050mAh (typical) battery and supports 100W wired charging along with 50W wireless charging. Anything above 8,000mAh sits closer to tablet territory, which makes this an aggressive design choice for a phone.

The F8 Ultra was reported to be in the 6,500mAh range, so this is a jump of more than 1,500mAh. Silicon-carbon anodes have made it possible to fit more capacity into the same volume in recent years, so POCO has likely reached this figure without a large increase in thickness. Note that the 8,050mAh cell is exclusive to the F9 Ultra, and POCO has not published a capacity for the F9 Pro.

An AnTuTu score of 4.16 million

Both phones use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 family. POCO notes officially that the F9 Ultra runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the F9 Pro uses the V-series part (SM8850-1-AB), so the two models are separated by silicon binning within the same generation.

POCO published an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108. That figure comes from POCO Internal Labs using AnTuTu Benchmark V11.1.1 at an ambient temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius, so independent reviews will decide how reproducible it is. Either way, this is firmly current-flagship territory.

A 185Hz OLED panel and Bose-tuned audio

The display is a high-brightness AMOLED panel running at up to 185Hz. POCO says gaming can reach up to 185FPS, but that is a ceiling measured on selected titles under internal test conditions, so actual frame rates will vary with the game and the graphics settings.

Audio was tuned in partnership with Bose. The phones use symmetrical stereo speakers plus an independent subwoofer, although the subwoofer is exclusive to the F9 Ultra. Bose branding on the back panel carries over from the Redmi K100 series to the POCO global variants.

A glowing back panel and a deep red finish

The two models take clearly different design directions. The Aurora Green POCO F9 Pro has a rear panel that glows across its full surface after absorbing sunlight or indoor light, with the camera deco excluded from the effect. Monochromatic light below 390nm or above 450nm produces only a weak glow, so not every light source charges it equally. Brightness and afterglow duration depend on the environment, and POCO notes that the effect can vary between production batches.

The POCO F9 Ultra goes the other way, with a deep cherry finish, a textured glass fiber surface and generous rounded corners for a matte, tactile feel. The Pro is the playful one, the Ultra leans on material quality.

Pricing and the finer specs are still leaks

Leaks put the F9 Pro at 799 euros (about 150,000 yen) for 12GB plus 256GB, and the F9 Ultra at 999 euros (about 190,000 yen) for 16GB plus 512GB. None of this is official, and POCO has not disclosed pricing.

Display sizes of 6.59 inches for the F9 Pro and 6.85 inches for the F9 Ultra have also circulated, but they remain unconfirmed. Camera details are inconsistent across reports, with different main sensor resolutions and telephoto magnifications, so there is nothing solid to state yet. Given the ongoing surge in memory prices, whether POCO can keep its usual aggressive pricing is a question best answered at the event itself.

Availability in Japan has not been announced. The F8 series skipped India, so regional rollout plans will need to be checked again after the launch.
