MSI has released the Claw 8 EX AI+, a handheld gaming PC, on June 23. The world's first handheld with Intel Arc G3 Extreme

The defining feature of the Claw 8 EX AI+ is its Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor. This is Intel's first platform built specifically for handheld gaming, paired with an integrated Intel Arc GPU B390. MSI says it substantially outperforms the AMD Z2 Extreme-based handhelds that have dominated this category so far.

On the imaging side, it supports the XeSS 3 upscaling technology and Multi-Frame Generation (MFG), which uses AI to interpolate additional frames. The controls have been reworked as well. The grips have a more comfortable shape, while the sticks and triggers use wear-resistant Hall-effect sensors. The bumpers are more seamlessly integrated with the triggers, and the D-pad is more responsive. A new linear motor delivers faster, more tactile haptic feedback. The power button now includes a fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking. On the software side, the device supports Windows 11's Xbox Mode for smooth game launching and resuming. It comes in a single Void Purple colorway.

Stronger expandability and connectivity

Storage now accepts a full-size M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (PCIe Gen4). Moving away from the smaller M.2 2230 of the previous generation makes swaps and upgrades easier. A microSD card reader is retained as well.

For ports, there are two Thunderbolt 4 connectors on the top, both supporting DisplayPort output and Power Delivery 3.0. That opens the door to docking the handheld to an external GPU (eGPU) for big-screen play at home. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The battery is a 4-cell, 80Whr unit; the body measures 296–321 x 130 x 25–48 mm and weighs 785 g.
