CIO, a Japanese maker of chargers and power banks, held a launch event called "CIO UPDATE 2026: Challenge and Expand" on July 1, 2026, unveiling 15 upcoming products along with an update on its domestic charger project. The lineup includes power banks with built-in retractable USB-C cables and wall outlets with integrated USB ports, aimed at rethinking everyday charging. The company is also holding a 10th-anniversary pop-up event in Harajuku, Tokyo.
15 products to mark the 10th year
CIO is a charging-gear maker headquartered in Moriguchi, Osaka, led by President Shota Nakahashi. The company entered its 10th year in January 2026, and this launch event was timed to that milestone. True to the "Challenge and Expand" theme, the lineup goes beyond its core categories of chargers and power banks to include wall outlets, in-car chargers, a 2-in-1 desk charger, and even a foot light, widening the range of use cases.
Most of the new products are slated to ship between August and autumn of 2026. Sales are still ahead, but a notable feature this time is that concrete prices and timing were laid out.
Retractable cables and semi-solid batteries at the core
At the heart of the lineup is the "Built in CORD REEL" series, which stores a USB-C cable inside the body. Because the cable reels away for transport, there is less need to carry a separate cable. The "SMARTCOBY Ex06 Wireless2.2 Built in CORD REEL" power bank adds wireless charging on top of the built-in cable, and a 100W model, the "SMARTCOBY Ex07 Built in CORD REEL 100W," is also on the way.
Efforts to improve battery safety continue as well. The slim "SMARTCOBY ULTRA SLIM SS5K" power bank uses a semi-solid cell, which is said to help reduce fire risk. CIO has already made semi-solid batteries a mainstay, and this extends that direction further.
Among chargers, the "NovaPort DUOⅢ 65W2C" arrives with two ports and 65W output. A portable two-port design is a familiar, practical format for charging a laptop and a smartphone together.
Expanding to wall outlets and the desk
One fresh addition is the "Polaris WALL" series of wall outlets with built-in USB-C and USB-A ports. Three models are planned — "Polaris WALL 65W2C," "Polaris WALL 65W1C1A," and "Polaris WALL SLIM" — turning the wall socket itself into a USB charging point. Installation requires electrical work, but for those who want to cut down on cables and adapters and tidy up their wiring, the idea is appealing.
The lineup also adds a cable-equipped 2-in-1 desk charger, the "Polaris CUBE DESK 2in1 Built in CORD REEL," a travel-oriented "Polaris CUBE TRAVEL Built in CORD REEL," and the in-car "NovaPort DUO 65W2C Built in CORD REEL for CAR." Affordable power banks — the "Mate Powerbank004" and "Mate Powerbank005" — round out a lineup that reaches from enthusiasts to price-conscious buyers.

Progress on the domestic charger project
The event also shared an update on the domestic charger project that has been underway since January 2026. Rather than manufacturing entire finished products in Japan right away, the plan is to first handle the later stages closest to the finished product domestically, tackling technical challenges such as heat while gradually expanding the share of parts sourced from domestic makers. Ichiken, a YouTuber known in the electrical and electronics field, is taking part as a development collaborator. It is a move toward domestic production in a category dominated by overseas manufacturing, and it is worth keeping in mind that this is a phased plan.
A hands-on pop-up in Harajuku
CIO has deliberately separated the "announcement" from the "experience," and it is opening a public pop-up event, "CIO POP-UP STORE TOKYO 10th ANNIV.," the day after the launch. It runs from July 2 to July 5, 2026, at LIFORK HARAJUKU on the third floor of WITH HARAJUKU, from 11:00 to 19:00.
The venue offers an early look at products due out from summer through autumn, a "touch and try" corner where visitors can handle existing products, and a conversation experience with an AI avatar named "Shio." Visitors who spend 6,000 yen or more receive a drink ticket for the limited-time "CIO Cafe." Free fan meetups are also held in the evenings, and cosplayer Moe Iori appeared as a guest at the press event. It reflects the company's aim to convey texture and size in person, complementing an online-centered sales approach.
Summary
To mark its 10th anniversary, CIO announced 15 products including cable-reel power banks, a slim semi-solid-cell battery, and the "Polaris WALL" outlets with built-in USB ports. Most are due between August and autumn of 2026, with price guidance already provided. Anyone looking to declutter their charging setup may want to check the products in person at the Harajuku pop-up and wait for the launch.
