Dell has begun selling the Alienware AW3926QW gaming monitor across several Asian markets. The 39-inch display packs a 5120x2160 (5K2K) resolution and uses an RGB-stripe Tandem OLED panel from LG Display. In Japan it costs 191,980 yen (including tax), and the wide gap in regional pricing has drawn attention. Here we break down the specs and how the price differs from market to market.

The World's First 39-Inch 5K2K RGB-Stripe OLED

The AW3926QW crams a 5120x2160 5K2K resolution into a 39-inch curved ultrawide screen. The panel has a 1500R curvature designed to wrap around your field of view.

The panel is a 4th-generation Tandem OLED from LG Display, using an RGB-stripe subpixel layout that places the red, green, and blue subpixels side by side. Tandem OLED stacks light-emitting layers to raise brightness and longevity. Conventional WOLED adds a white subpixel to boost brightness, but it tends to show color fringing around text. By using a pure RGB layout without white, the AW3926QW sharpens text rendering and aims to stay readable even for Windows desktop work.

Compared with LG's own 39GX950B-B, which uses the same 5K2K panel, the differences are the surface finish and the subpixel layout. LG's model has a matte coating and a white subpixel, while the Alienware uses a glossy finish and a pure RGB layout. A glossy surface tends to bring out contrast and color vividness but is more prone to reflections, so preference depends on the setup.

A Dual Mode That Switches Between 165Hz and 330Hz

The refresh rate is 165Hz natively. On top of that, a Dual Mode drops the resolution to 2560x1080 to run at up to 330Hz, letting you trade detail for motion smoothness as needed. Think high refresh for competitive games and high resolution for video and RPGs.

Brightness reaches up to 330 nits full-screen and a peak of 1,300 nits in HDR. OLED excels at deep blacks and contrast, a strength in dark scenes in video and games.

Prices Vary Widely by Region

What stands out here is how much the price differs by region for the very same product. In Japan it is 191,980 yen (including tax), close to the expected US MSRP of 1,099 USD (about 180,000 yen, before tax). Korea is also around 1,222 USD (about 200,000 yen), keeping it near Japan's tier.

By contrast, Taiwan runs about 2,350 USD (about 380,000 yen), mainland China about 1,914 USD (about 310,000 yen), and Hong Kong about 1,785 USD (about 290,000 yen) - in some regions roughly double the expected US price. Exchange rates, taxes, and distribution differences appear to be behind this, but the cost changes significantly depending on where you buy. *1 USD = 161 JPY (as of July 3, 2026)

Official availability for North America and Europe has not been announced yet. For reference, LG's 39GX950B-B, which uses the same 5K2K panel, sells for 1,799.99 USD (about 290,000 yen) in the US.

Summary

The Alienware AW3926QW combines a 39-inch 5K2K screen with LG Display's RGB-stripe Tandem OLED, aiming for both sharp text and glossy visual punch in a large ultrawide. It also offers a Dual Mode that switches between 165Hz and 330Hz, plus a high HDR peak of 1,300 nits. In Japan, at 191,980 yen (including tax), it is relatively accessible within Asia, but the regional price gaps are large, so it is worth checking each market's conditions before buying.
