SWITCHBOT Corporation released the SwitchBot AI Mind Clip on August 19, 2026, a wearable device that records conversations while you wear it and lets AI handle transcription and summarization. It weighs roughly 16.8 grams and costs 19,980 yen including tax. The device pulls key points and to-dos out of what it records and pushes them into calendar and reminder apps. It marks a step by a company best known for smart home gear into the business of capturing what people say.
Clip It to Your Collar, Start Recording with a Slide Switch
The AI Mind Clip is exactly what its name suggests: a clip you attach to a collar or a bag strap. At about 16.8 grams, it is light enough to forget you are wearing it.
Recording is controlled entirely by a slide switch on the body. There is no app to open and no phone to pull out. When someone asks you for something while you are standing in a hallway, or an idea surfaces on your commute, you no longer have to hold it in your head until you reach a desk. Continuous recording runs up to 20 hours, and 64GB of onboard storage means a full day of wearing it leaves little to worry about in terms of capacity or battery. Recording time varies depending on conditions of use.
Plug It In to Charge, and the Transcript Is Already Done
After recording, the only thing left for the user to do is charge the device. As soon as charging begins, the recordings transfer automatically and the AI works through transcription and summarization. If you want to review something right away, you can also transfer recordings manually from the app.
Summary templates are selected automatically based on content, with formats prepared for lessons, lectures, discussions and sales meetings, and manual switching is available. The large language model used for summarization can also be chosen from several options including ChatGPT and Gemini, so you can match it to the task or your own preference. Conversations involving several people are transcribed with speakers separated, so you can trace who said what afterward.
Turning What Was Said into Things to Do
The real focus of this device is not the recording but what happens next. The AI picks out items that need action and any deadlines mentioned, then lays them out as to-dos.
Confirm the estimate by Friday. Buy milk and tissues on the way home. Those two are entirely different in nature, yet both were born in the middle of a conversation. The AI Mind Clip sorts them into categories such as work, daily life and events, and anything that needs to go on a schedule can be sent to Apple Calendar, Apple Reminders or Google Calendar with a single tap. Calendar syncing relies on the standard features of the phone itself.
Looking Back by the Day and by the Week
Once records pile up, finding things becomes the new chore. That is where the review features come in.
The daily review gathers the important items, commitments and things to check from everything recorded that day. The weekly summary goes wider, analyzing conversations recorded on different days together. What was decided in Monday's meeting, the request added during a hallway chat on Tuesday, the item that came up on Thursday: these are grouped by theme so progress becomes visible.
For searching, there is Ask AI. Questions like what tasks need to be finished by next week, or what that idea you had the other day was, are answered from everything recorded so far. Beyond simply retrieving information, you can also talk through how to move forward based on it. Records can be reviewed and edited from a PC browser as well as the phone app, so cleaning up meeting notes or editing a long transcript can be done on a computer.
Accumulated records can also be handed to AI agents such as Codex through the SwitchBot OpenAPI CLI. Passing along decisions from a meeting or a customer request as context removes the need to re-explain the background every time you ask for an email or a document.
Privacy Design for Something You Wear All Day
A product that sits on your body and picks up sound demands care. The standard the company set is that the user, not the device, decides when recording happens. Starting and stopping is done with the physical slide switch, so only the moments that matter get captured.
Data is encrypted from device to cloud and stored encrypted on AWS. Once an upload completes, the recording is deleted from the device, and the design prevents recordings from being pulled directly through the Type-C port. On the certification side, the product holds EN 18031, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701. That said, respecting the privacy of people nearby is not something hardware design can settle on its own. Getting consent where appropriate and following the rules of a given venue remain the user's responsibility.
Price and Launch Campaign
The manufacturer's suggested retail price is 19,980 yen including tax, in two colors: Deep Space and Luna White.
To mark the launch, a campaign runs from August 19 to September 11, 2026 across participating sales channels. Official stores offer either a launch price of 16,980 yen including tax or point rebates. The Amazon official store alternates between the two: 3,000 points back from August 19 to 21 and again from September 4 to 11, and the 16,980 yen price from August 22 to September 3. Participating electronics retailers nationwide are running campaigns as well, though prices and terms vary by store.
Buyers who register the product in the app during the campaign period also get a six-month free trial of the Premium plan, which covers up to 1,200 minutes of transcription per month. Core features including summaries, to-do creation and Ask AI are available on every plan, so nothing shuts off wholesale when the trial ends. Additional transcription time can be bought as an add-on pack.

Summary
The AI Mind Clip calls itself a recorder, but it is really built as an entry point that hands conversations off to whatever comes next. A 16.8-gram body driven by a slide switch, with transcription, summarization and to-do extraction finished by the time you unplug it, is a design aimed less at the effort of recording than at the effort of remembering. Alongside the 19,980 yen price, the 16,980 yen offer, point rebates and six months of the Premium plan give buyers a low-friction way in through September 11. For anyone losing hours to the round trip between meetings and notes, this is the kind of tool whose effect shows up quickly.
