Qualcomm has confirmed on its own terms that two flagship mobile SoCs are on the way. A teaser posted by the official Snapdragon account on August 19 puts the reveal on September 22. The idea of a standard and a higher-tier part arriving side by side had been circulating for a while, and the company has now effectively backed it up.
The teaser is a short video paired with a line of text saying the next chapter of the agentic AI era begins at Snapdragon Summit, and that "two" changes the game. Inside the clip, phrases such as "Dual 8 Elites," "Twice the Options," and "Opportunity Doubled" appear, and the visuals consistently show elements in pairs. Product names are withheld, but the fact that there will be two flagships is stated in all but name.
The reveal lands on day one of the Summit
Qualcomm's official event page lists Snapdragon Summit 2026 for September 22 to 24 in Maui, Hawaii. The September 22 date in the teaser is the opening day, which lines up with the company's usual pattern of unveiling its flagship silicon at the start of the event. The dates themselves were already public back in late June, so the genuinely new piece of information here is simply that two chips will show up on day one.
Names and specs are still unofficial
It is worth drawing a clear line here: Qualcomm has not named either chip. The labels "Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6" and "Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro" have been repeated widely ahead of the event, but neither is official at this point. Talk of a 2nm-class manufacturing process, or a benchmark run in the 4.8-million-point range for the higher-tier part, sits in the same unconfirmed bucket. The safest reading is that only two things are locked in: there are two of them, and they arrive on September 22.
What changes when one flagship becomes two
In the previous generation, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 was the only Elite-branded flagship. Placing two parts with different performance levels under one brand lets phone makers pick based on price bracket and thermal design. From a buyer's perspective, though, it means handsets claiming the same generation may not carry the same silicon, adding one more thing to check before purchase.
The emphasis Qualcomm puts on the "agentic AI era" in the teaser is also worth noting. Beyond raw compute, power efficiency and memory bandwidth for keeping AI agents running on the device may well be the axis that separates these two parts.
Summary
What we know is limited to two points: the next flagship Snapdragon comes in two versions, and it shows up on September 22. Names, specifications, and pricing remain entirely unannounced. How the 2027 high-end Android lineup ends up splitting is a question for the opening keynote.
