OPPO is rolling out the Reno16 series, first shown in China in May, to global markets. The global lineup consists of four models: the Reno16, Reno16 Pro, Reno16 F, and Reno16 FS. All of them feature a new "3D Pop Planet Design" that makes the back appear to float, along with a set of AI features that assist from shooting through editing. A New Design That Makes the Back Appear to Float
The first thing the Reno16 series shows off is its look, which OPPO refreshes with every generation. This time, the Pop White model uses what OPPO calls an industry-first "HoloVerse 3D Technology," creating a nebula-like pattern that appears to hover above the back cover as light and viewing angle change. Millions of micro-lenses reconstruct light to give the flat surface a sense of depth.
The body uses a one-piece design that flows smoothly from the back cover into the camera module. There is little step around the camera, which also helps reduce dust buildup. The Reno16 and Reno16 Pro pack a roughly 6.32-inch display that is comfortable for one-handed use, paired with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame. The screen has a resolution of 2640 x 1216, peak brightness reaches 3600 nits for good outdoor visibility, and the refresh rate is 120Hz on the standard Reno16 and up to 144Hz on the Reno16 Pro.
A 200MP Camera and Playful Shooting and Editing Tools
The camera is the star of this series. The Reno16 Pro carries a 200MP "Ultra Clear" main camera, letting users crop into a shot afterward and reframe while preserving fine detail. All three models share a triple-camera setup with an OIS-stabilized main camera, a telephoto portrait camera with roughly 3.5x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide camera. On the front is a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera with a roughly 100-degree field of view, which makes group selfies and shots that include a wide background easier to compose.
A new feature called Pop Cam is a shooting mode inside the camera app that applies retro looks such as Digicam, Instant Film, and Light Leak effects with a single tap. For editing, OPPO adds a "Create" hub inside the Photos app that gathers AI tools such as AI Remix Collage, which layers multiple photos or short videos with stickers and text, and Popout Collage 2.0, which lets subjects break out of the frame. For video, the phones support 4K Auto Straighten to keep footage level while walking, and Dual View Video 2.0 for smooth switching between rear lenses.
ColorOS 16 and AI You Can Summon With a Press
On the software side, the phones run ColorOS 16, OPPO's Android-based OS, with expanded AI features. For the first time on a Reno device, a dedicated "AI Snap Key" lets you press to capture and organize on-screen information through "AI Mind Space." From what you save there, "AI Bill Manager" can automatically read digital payments and receipts and organize them into spending records.
The series also adds "AI Mind Pilot," which coordinates multiple AI models depending on the task, suggesting the most suitable model or letting you compare answers side by side. When traveling, "AI Menu Translation" goes beyond text translation to visually explain foreign dishes.
Performance, Battery, and Durability
Performance differs by model. The Reno16 Pro combines MediaTek's Dimensity 8550 Super with AI HyperBoost 3.0 and improved cooling, supporting up to 144Hz in compatible games. The standard Reno16 uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 for smooth everyday use. AI LinkBoost 4.0 has also been added to keep connections stable in crowded places.
Battery capacity varies by market. OPPO lists capacities up to the 6,700mAh class, but the European Reno16 and Reno16 Pro are tuned to a smaller 6,000mAh. All models support 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. For durability, they carry IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance, plus Splash Touch and Glove Touch for use with wet fingers or gloves.
Pricing, Availability, and the 35g Companion "OPPO Bubble"
In Europe, the Reno16 with 8GB and 512GB is priced at 899 EUR (about 170,000 yen), and the Reno16 Pro with 12GB and 512GB at 1,099 EUR (about 200,000 yen). Both come with a discount through July 31: the Reno16 drops to 799 EUR (about 150,000 yen) and the Reno16 Pro to 899 EUR (about 170,000 yen). Pre-orders have already started, with release set for July 3. Colors are Pop White, Twilight Violet, and Dream Purple for the Reno16, and Pop White and Starlight Black for the Reno16 Pro.

OPPO also announced OPPO Bubble, a 35g magnetic companion device. It attaches to compatible cases or magnetic rings, and its AMOLED display works as a real-time monitor for the rear camera. It can also act as a remote shutter from up to 10 meters away, making rear-camera selfies and group photos easier to capture.
