HONOR has unveiled "Agentic OS," a next-generation smartphone foundation built around AI agents. The company introduced it on the opening day of MWC Shanghai 2026, the mobile industry show that began in Shanghai, China on June 24, and its capabilities will reach users in stages through MagicOS 11, HONOR's smartphone software. The goal is to reshape the device from something you simply operate into one that reads your intent and acts on its own.

Rebuilding the phone as an autonomous agent

Agentic OS is an attempt to rebuild the smartphone operating system around AI from the ground up. Fang Fei, who leads HONOR's product line, explained that the new OS and its phased achievements will reach users through MagicOS 11.

Traditional phones are tools where the user opens an app and taps through the screen to get something done. HONOR envisions a device that, once you state a rough request, reads the situation, assembles the necessary steps, and carries out the work itself. Rather than bolting AI on as one more on-screen feature, the company is redesigning the foundation of the system around the assumption of an agent.

Four core capabilities

According to HONOR, Agentic OS is built on a different design philosophy and offers four core capabilities.

The first is intent-driven operation that works backward from the user's goal. The second is an interaction style that handles natural, situation-aware exchanges rather than mechanical question-and-answer. The third is an AI-powered "agentic kernel" and its related components, which place AI at the center of the OS. The fourth is native cross-platform connectivity that links devices together instead of keeping everything within a single phone.

Three pillars: perception, planning, action

Agentic OS rests on three actions of an AI agent: perception, planning, and action. On one side, the device connects with the user to understand real-world situations; on the other, it works with cloud-based models to supplement the computing power it needs.

HONOR says this structure lets the device itself behave as a single cluster that bundles together computing resources, sensors, and interaction. Following the ROBOT PHONE, the new form factor it revealed earlier, the company aims to rebuild the OS from the ground up into a human-centered mechanism.

Rolling out via MagicOS 11

These capabilities will not all arrive at once. HONOR says it will deliver the phased achievements of Agentic OS in order through MagicOS 11, the latest version of MagicOS. The enhancements around natural interaction, in particular, may be experienced relatively early.

That said, the details of each feature and the exact timing of their release are not yet entirely clear. HONOR plans to lay out the full technical picture again, and users will likely feel the difference on their own devices once the MagicOS 11 rollout is fully under way.

Summary

Agentic OS is HONOR's vision of elevating the phone from a tool you operate into something that reads your intent and arranges the steps on its own. It bundles four pillars, intent-driven operation, natural interaction, an AI-centered kernel, and cross-device connectivity, around the agent's basic actions of perception, planning, and action. What it actually feels like to use will become clear through the features delivered as MagicOS 11. New operating systems touting AI keep arriving from every vendor, and how natural and dependable everyday operation becomes will be the deciding factor.
