On August 18, Google rolled out four interactive features built around BTS inside the Gemini app[1]. Typing "Unlock BTS" or "7777" into the prompt box opens them, and users worldwide can try them. The features are available only in select languages and only for a limited time[1].
The Entry Point Is the Prompt Box
These features are not tucked away in a menu or a settings screen. On a phone or a desktop, you open the Gemini app, type "Unlock BTS" or "7777" into the same box you always use, and the dedicated experience launches[1].
The prompt box of a conversational AI is designed to accept anything, so hiding a passphrase inside it makes sense. No new tab and no update are required, and anyone who already has the app can try it on the spot. The flip side is that nothing appears at all for users who do not know the passphrase.
What the 4 Features Do
Google prepared four features with distinctly different characters[1].
The first shows real prompts that BTS members have sent to Gemini. Examples include RM's questions about culture and travel, and Jung Kook's interest in bikes[1]. Writing prompts is where many people stumble when they first use generative AI, so showing concrete examples works as a reasonable on-ramp.
The second is a quiz that asks you to guess a song from emoji clues. Gemini assembles emoji hints that match the mood and the lyrics, and you infer the track[1]. It also handles recommendations based on conditions such as a song for the morning or something to unwind to.
The third tracks tour information. It shows a daily digest of trending news from the past 48 to 72 hours, plus a two-week schedule automatically synced to the user's local time zone[1]. Not leaving time-zone math to the user matters for a group whose fans are scattered across the world.
The fourth teaches Korean. It covers phrases commonly used in fan letters, online comments, and everyday conversation, and it comes with audio pronunciation guides[1]. The design assumes practice in both speaking and writing.
A Film Released Alongside: "It Starts With You"
To mark the launch, Google published a film on YouTube titled "BTS & Gemini | It starts with you"[1][2]. It follows how RM, JIN, SUGA, j-hope, JIMIN, V, and Jung Kook use Gemini in daily life[1].
The film covers scenes such as planning a trip, picking up a new hobby, and bridging language and cultural gaps, built around the idea that staying curious and asking questions leads to creativity and learning[1]. It leans toward the attitude of using the tool rather than a feature walkthrough.
Not New Capability, but a New Doorway
Technically, all four of these are combinations of things Gemini can already do. Recommending, summarizing, organizing a schedule, and acting as a language practice partner are all available without a passphrase.
Still, carving out a dedicated doorway has a point. With a general-purpose AI app, plenty of people stall at the stage of not knowing what to ask. Give them a clear context in the form of a specific artist, then show the prompts that were actually used there, and the barrier to that first attempt drops noticeably. The limited-time design also reads as an attempt to get people to touch it while the topic is still live.
Summary
Google has added four BTS-themed interactive features to the Gemini app for a limited time. Typing "Unlock BTS" or "7777" into the prompt box opens them, offering member prompts, an emoji quiz, a tour news digest, and Korean lessons. A film titled "BTS & Gemini | It starts with you" was released alongside them. Rather than a capability upgrade, this looks like a doorway built to pull fans into features that already existed.
