What stands out is the dual-layer structure, which stacks two emissive layers. Because each layer carries less of the load at a given brightness, both power draw and panel degradation are reduced. That is one answer to the burn-in and lifespan concerns that have followed OLED around, and it suits a device built for long video sessions and reading.
The 3:2 ratio also pays off with documents and e-books. Open a tall page on a 16:9 or 16:10 tablet and the empty margins are hard to ignore; 3:2 wastes less of the panel. Screen-to-body ratio is 92 percent.
Audio comes from four speakers with Dolby Atmos support, using 8-ohm, 1-watt units. On eye comfort, the display carries TÜV Rheinland certification for reduced blue light and flicker-free operation.
What 6.5mm and 523g actually mean
The body measures 271.1 x 182.4 x 6.5mm and weighs 523g, which is light for a 12-inch class tablet. It is still heavy for extended one-handed use, but it is a realistic number for something you carry in a bag every day.
To hit both figures, ASUS used a magnalium chassis with a fiberglass back cover. All-metal construction adds weight, while plastic alone lacks rigidity, and this is the compromise between the two.
A protective case is included in the box. ASUS is clear about its limits, though: the case guards against surface scratches and is not rated for drops or impacts.
Dimensity 8300 paired with a 9,000mAh battery
The processor is MediaTek's Dimensity 8300, built on a 4nm process. Memory is 8GB of LPDDR5x, and storage is UFS 3.1 at either 128GB or 256GB. A microSD slot allows up to 1TB of additional capacity, which is a practical touch on a tablet that tends to accumulate video and photos.
The 9,000mAh battery supports 45W charging over USB Type-C. ASUS says its own testing reaches 50 percent in roughly 30 minutes.
Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6E (2x2) and Bluetooth 5.3. There is a single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 output and PD 3.0 charging. Cameras are 13MP at the rear with an LED flash and 5MP at the front. The operating system is Android 16.
Gemini and GlideX carry the software story
ASUS has also built in features that reach beyond the tablet itself. Its own GlideX handles screen sharing and file transfer with a PC, aimed at workflows that span multiple devices.
On the Google side, Circle to Search lets you look up whatever is on screen, and Gemini provides AI assistance. Face unlock is available, but ASUS notes it is not intended for high-security uses such as banking apps or payments, and recommends a PIN or password for those.
For input, the tablet supports ASUS Pen 2.0 and Bluetooth keyboards. Both are sold separately, and whether either is bundled varies by country and region.

The ASUS Pad was first shown on June 2, timed to Computex 2026 in Taipei. A little over two months later, the India launch is set for noon local time on August 6.
Pricing was announced on July 30: Rs. 45,990 for 8GB + 128GB and Rs. 49,990 for 8GB + 256GB. Only one color, Pure White, will be offered. Sales run through Flipkart and the ASUS eShop, along with ASUS and ROG stores, Reliance Digital and authorised ASUS retail partners. ASUS has not given a timeline for other markets.
The 12-inch Android tablet segment remains dominated by Samsung and Xiaomi. Re-entering it, ASUS chose the mid-to-high-end Dimensity 8300 rather than a current flagship chip, and put the difference into the display and the chassis. At Rs. 45,990 and up, that trade reads clearly: the budget went to panel quality and portability rather than raw performance.
