Elecom will release a mobile battery that integrates an AC charger and a USB Type-C cable in late June. With a 3-in-1 design that brings the roles of battery, AC charger, and cable together in a single unit, it lets you carry everything you need to charge while on the move. As an AC charger it supports USB Power Delivery output of up to 67W, charging not only smartphones and tablets but also laptops. Two capacities are offered: 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh.

A 3-in-1 Design with Both the Cable and AC Charger Built In

This product combines three functions—mobile battery, AC charger, and USB Type-C cable—in a single unit[1]. Because the USB Type-C cable is built into the body, there is no need to carry a separate charging cable, so you never have to worry about forgetting one while you are out[1]. The power plug uses a swing-plug mechanism that rotates to stow into the body when not in use[1]. Outdoors you charge from the mobile battery, while indoors you can plug it straight into an outlet to use it as an AC charger, so a single unit covers charging both inside and out[1]. The product has also been covered in the press as a 3-in-1 model that consolidates charging-related functions into one[2].

Output Differs Between Mobile Battery and AC Charger Modes

The output changes depending on how you use it. When used as a mobile battery, it can charge a laptop or smartphone at up to 30W from the built-in cable or the USB Type-C port[1]. When plugged into an outlet and used as an AC charger, it supports USB Power Delivery output of up to 67W and can even charge a laptop[1]. When multiple ports are used at once, the power is divided: in AC charger mode with two ports, the split is USB Type-C 50W plus USB-A 12W, or USB Type-C 45W plus the built-in cable 20W, and with three ports at once it is 50W from USB Type-C and a combined 15W from the built-in cable and USB-A[1].

USB Power Delivery is a USB standard in which the charger and the connected device exchange information to choose the optimal power, and it also supports PPS (Programmable Power Supply), which adjusts voltage in fine steps[1][3]. Because it automatically adjusts voltage and current to match the connected device, it can charge a wide range of devices, from smartphones and tablets to laptops[1].

Two Capacities, with Remaining Charge Shown in 1% Steps

Two capacities are available: 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh[1]. According to Elecom, the 5,000 mAh model can charge a 1,800 mAh smartphone about 1.6 times, and the 10,000 mAh model about 3.3 times[1]. The body takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes to charge in either case[1]. The remaining charge is shown on an LED panel in 1% steps, making it easy to see how much is left before charging[1].

For colors, the 5,000 mAh model comes in two options, black and Shirochan (white with black), while the 10,000 mAh model comes in three: black, white, and Shirochan[2][4][5]. Note that the cable you plug into the USB ports is not included; the only cable built into the body is the integrated USB Type-C cable[1].

Safety Design, Supported Devices, and Airplane Carry-On

On safety, the unit conforms to the technical standards of the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act (PSE) of Japan, and is designed to meet JIS C 62133-2:2020 and JIS C 8715-2:2024[1]. It also features Thermal Protection that monitors and controls the temperature of the unit, plus multiple protections that automatically stop operation when an abnormality is detected[1]. Inside is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated for about 500 charge cycles[1]. Because its battery capacity is 160Wh (43,243 mAh) or less, it can also be carried onto aircraft, although airline rules may impose exceptions[1]. It supports a wide range of devices, and can also charge the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch Lite[1]. It is also a THINK ECOLOGY certified product that meets the in-house environmental standards of Elecom through measures such as the use of recycled materials[1].

Summary

The new Elecom mobile battery is defined by a 3-in-1 design that brings the battery, AC charger, and cable together in a single unit[1]. In addition to supporting USB Power Delivery output of up to 67W as an AC charger—enough to charge a laptop—it has an LED panel that shows remaining charge in 1% steps and a swing plug for storage, making it a design built around portability and ease of use[1][2]. It comes in two capacities, 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh, and is scheduled for release in late June[1].
